2003 Solara Head Unit Installation Question

Hello,

I got 2003 Solara and I'm changing the head unit and trying to wire it by hand without using an adapter harness. I can't seem to find a proper wiring diagram. So the way its connected right now is it plays but with HUGE noise and I cant find any of the negative/ground wires for the speakers. Does any one have a proper wiring diagram or can tell me how to make this work?

Thanks ahead of time.

Rex,

Of course you know you're doing this the hard way (without an adapter harness) so I won't beat you up over that so here's the next to the next best thing. It's a link to a Gen II Solara audio system wiring guide: http://cns-design.ru/files/solara/pd...o%20Visual.pdf It may not be (and probably isn't) identical to the wiring for your Gen I but might help.

The 'real' best thing (next to using an adapter harness ) would be to log onto Toyota Information services (people will think I own stock in the site I mention it so often) and download the factory service manual for your car. You'll have enough information to, literally, tear the car completely apart and put it back together. Here's a link: www.techinfo.toyota.com . Pony up the $10 for a 24 hour subscription and download everything you can find about your car.

Cheers
