need some help

Hi everyone. First time posting and new to this forum. Just wondering if anybody can help me out with a couple of problems. first, I have a 2005 toyota solara and this past weekend my girlfriend borrowed my car and took it to the city, parked the car, and came out after a couple of hours and found that someone busted the driver's side mirror. Would you recommend any good websites to order a new mirror from? Alright, secondly..i was checking the tire pressure of all tires tonight found that the left front tire valve stem is leaking air...what would cause this and how can I fix it? Dealership or could i go to a specialty tire/wheel shop (america's tires)? Sorry, if i'm asking for too much and sound overwhelming. Been having such bad luck lately. anyways, your help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Jon

1. Your mirror: it would probably be a lot cheaper trying to find a replacement mirror online rather than getting one from the dealer. Just do a google search and see if you can find one. If you don't know how to install it, any local body shop should be able to do that, again, dealer would probably just overcharge.

2. Valve stem: again, no dealer. Just take it to a rim/tire shop, might just need a new stem, not a big deal. Definitely a lot cheaper going that route.

**You can also join solaraguy.com if you want. Lots of good information there too.

Sounds like a little run of bad karma. Hopefully it'll end soon.

About the mirror. Check wrecking yards in your area and if that doesn't work you can use one of the state or national parts search engines. Some charge a few dollars. You enter the part you need (including color) they search salvage yards nationwide to find your part.

As another forum member has pointed out, just take the wheel to any tire shop. They'll break the bead on the tire, pull the old valve out, pop and new one in and you'll be good to go. Be sure you check pressure on the repaired tire. It's not likely it'll be the same spec you're using in your other tires. If your Solara has the tire pressure sensor you'll want to reset it after all your wheels are remounted and pressures checked.

Cheers
