my car doesnt accel when engine is cold,i have a short ram setup and the has 119,000 miles..i cleaned thorrotal body.....And i aslo have when the cars a/c turns on it wont accel netheir what could this be?

I'm not sure anyone can help without actually being there but more information would sure be helpful

What year Solara do you have
four cylinder or six
stick shift or automatic

by "doesn't accel" do you mean it just sits with the transmission in gear and won't move (one extreme) or the car is just more sluggish than it used to be?

By "doesn't accel" when cold do you mean it's fine once the engine is up to normal operating temperature but then "won't accel" again when you turn on the AC? Turning off the AC everything is normal again?

Is your check engine light on or has it come on at all?

I guess you can see how having all the facts would at least allow forum members to make a 'guess' at your problem.

If I were to take a guess based on your information, especially taking the mileage into account, I'd guess your spark plugs are in need of changing. Now, if you have the 6 cylinder and you did that as scheduled around 100,000 with Iridium plugs then you can toss that guess immediately.

If you were low on power all the time I'd hazard a guess the fuel filter may be clogged but if it's only cold and only when AC is running then that one doesn't fly either.

The same applies to the catalytic converter. All the time low power then it could be clogged. Only under certain conditions, probably not.

If your problem was a 'sudden onset' sort of thing then you should try to figure out what was done differently when the symptom showed up. Different fuel?

The curious thing is the 'only when cold' and 'only when AC is on' symptom that you suggest. I can't figure out how the two might be linked.

I realise this hasn't been the least bit helpful but if you'll repost with more facts maybe something will occur to someone.

the year of my car is 1999 se 4cylinder auto..i have the check light on the code is p0401 i need a new modulater i already put a new egr vavlue 150.00 an new egr vacum switch 75.00 i just need the modulater..cleaned out the egr tube did the tune up at 117000 miles.....it been like that after i fix the motor by fix i mean new piston new head new rod new timing belt fix the block all of that...okay getting back to my problem my car is making an engine nosie but i know what it is its my balance shaft another 650 bucks watting in my wallet..okay my car when you start it up in the moring you know how other peoples car accel when its cold 1500 rpms depending okay my car doesnt do that it just idle and when the a/c comes on it suppose to accel to like 800rpms or 900 depending aslo but it doesnt netheir....o yea the cat is clean as a whistle but my car is kinda slow it tops out at 106 i seen solara's 4cylinder do like 140 or 120 mph i just want to fix the accel problems those our my main problems and i dont have any trani problems just problems in the moring and when the a/c comes on.

Ah Ha! See how much difference a bit of accurate information can make?

So your problem has nothing to do with acceleration, the issue is with idle speed when cold and when the AC comes on. I'd suggest checking the idle air valve. It's that valve's responsibility to adjust airflow (based on commands from the ECU) so the engine idles at the factory recommended speed.

Since the ECU is throwing codes at you that's obviously an issue too. You should fix those items (the code you're seeing is for 'insufficient flow through the EGR valve) since they could be part of your problem.

umm i think my ecu is no good...my car is chip but i can get the key made at walmart not chip and it will still start anybody know's how much would it cost and i need a factory air box intake system this car is going to cost me 5 grand to fix everything it needs..new motor new trani facotry rims mud slaps new passanger door new right front headlamp new alarm system from toyota new radio from toyota new shocks needs new brakes rear and front drum and rotor new front fog light new rear wing new tints new seats all of them new sunroof and a new paint job needs to be done by toyota everything i just list needs to come from toyota..were i live you will be luck if you find one crashed or in the street people here were i live said they never seen a solara and i live in homestead i counted 3 so far from what i seen this car is really good i dont want to get rid of it because its not a car you see every day homestead,FL. but recentaly i have been seeing more and more but still i like..
