gen1 starting issues

So I bought an automatic 3.0L 99 Solara about two months ago. When I bought it I noticed it idled fairly high (2000rpm) for about two or three minutes and then would slowly drop to just under 1000rpm, and was loud. Fairly recently it's been running a little rough at idle sometimes, and sometimes when idling next to a building or other vehicle I can hear a squealing/squeaky sound. I know either of these could be a number of problems, but has anyone else had similar problems? I thought the high idle rpm at startup could be a hole in the exhaust somewhere, or a leaky gasket, but I'm not sure... Anyways just want a few thoughts before I get someone to look at it
