Noob!

Hi,

The wife and I just picked up a 1999 Solara SEL with 99K miles. Needs a little work....i.e. rotors/pads, tires, crack in front bumper, air bag light flashes (told that mechanics could fix but it is not worth it....they work fine, just a glitch), couple CELs reguarding the A.F sensor. Of course I didn't write the codes down or save them in my scanner, that would actually be a good idea.

Car runs great though, I am impressed. Still not as fast or handles as good as my SVT Contour, but still a nice car.

rotors and pads: looking to save money... get the rotors machines at a checker or autozone... its like $10 each... if beyond machining... then buy some off ebay or the internet. very simple to replace.

bumper: tell ur insurance that someone hit u when u were parked at teh grocery store. lol

CEL about ur MAF: buy a new MAF sensor FROM TOYOTA!! i bought one from autozone cuz it was cheaper.. big mistake.... still gave me the same code... and i lost the money i spent on it. =\

good luck!

Oh the rotors were shot waaaay beyond being able to be turned. They were only $20 a shot for the rear ones and $35 for the front. The Bank 1 sensor 1 was replaced by a bosch universal sensor and it has kept the CEL off for a couple weeks.....so for so good.
