back bumper

hey guys i just had a quick question,,, a guy had a spike like license plate frame and his brakes went out and he hit the back of my car (not that hard or anything), Thing is the spike plate frame went through the paint and caused little dents on the back of the bumper (just small inpressions of the spikes around the frame). thing is my shop is telling me they need to change my whole bumper for this minor thing, said the bumper has to be changed the reinforcement also, new bumper clips, and paint job. charging me $906+, Car is a 2001. Does this even sound remotely sound. sorry that i have no pics.

Spacer,

You can try different shops and get different estimates but they probably won't vary very much. Unless you're willing to put up with a repair you'd always be able to see the only solution is an entirely new bumper. Even if you can fill the dimples made by the points you'd have visible 'dots' where you tried to paint the filler.

The good news is, the other guy hit 'you'. Let his insurance pick up the tab for the repair.

Cheers

if the damage to the bumper isnt bad and there is no damage to the chassis or crash reinforcements.. u could just sand it down, fill the dents with bondo, sand it down again, and repaint it... u could save a butt load. but yet i cant see the damage so i dont wana guarantee anything lol
