i recently change my battery and then the security light wont lit and my remote locking and unlocking didnt work
took my car for checks in toyota dealership and they told me my computer is fried. I need 1 grand to replace the computer.

guys, is there any recommended shop to replace this? because 1 grand is such a rip off!

and what sucks is im 2000 miles over warranty!

Check auto recyclers. You should be able to find a computer in another Solara (or Camry) for half the new price or less.

For the same money your going to spend, you can exchange your unit for one that has updated code to advance timing, fuel, 15-25hp; Cost is $1k with trade in. I know a guy who moved to Temecula from Yorba Linda, Ron Zimmerman who wrote the code that allowed Dodge to shove the V8 into the small Rams. He programs pre-04 GMs as well as many other makes. When I put the Vortec, new jets, GMS Maf, TBbypass, Sensor relocater and headers on my 99 C5, he took my mods and programed them into my unit, then added another 30hp on top of that.
There are many outfits that offer units programed to boost hp x 20 for a grand.
