Wow, that's kind of tough making a recommendation to someone you don't know about whether he/she should spend thousands of dollars to replace what is apparently a perfectly good car.
How about this. Sit down and make yourself a list...maybe a couple of lists.
Write down all the things you like and all the things you dislike about your current car. Consider everything from engine type to paint color, upholstery type (cloth/leather) to transmission. Second list write down all the things you like about your current car.
Now do the same for the '06. What do you like more about it than your current car. Styling? Features? Sport suspension?
Now a final list. If you could buy your 'dream' car what features would it have. Great sound system? Hard top? Convertible? 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder? What color.
Finally compare your lists. You might find you like your current car more than you thought. You might find the '06 has features you're missing in the current car or that you find it wanting in some areas. Does the '06 come close to matching your perfect car? If not maybe a different brand/model would be a better fit.
In the end there's nothing that overrides 'new car lust' but at least if you go into the swap eyes wide open you stand a much better chance of being happy with the swap later.
Oh, one thing. As part of your research you might want to rent a late model Solara. Hertz has them. Take it out for a long weekend and see if it's all the car you think it is...maybe it'll be more.
Cheers
