Help

I hear a ticking sound coming from my engine when i speed up from 1.5 - 2 RPMS. It's a feint ticking sound. What could it be?

Assuming you're talking about a Solara it'd help to know what engine you have (in case someone knows about a technical service bulletin (TSB) issued for your model.

The best most could suggest is that you have someone run the engine up to that very narrow 500 rpm band while you probe around with a stethoscope (a couple of feet of old garden hose works great) to locate the noise. Be careful around belts and fans.

Thanks. I'm not sure what engine. I'm not that technical with cars. I just know it's the 2001 solara SE and it'sthe v4.

I can't find a TSB for any sort of faint ticking sound limited to a specific rpm. An Internet search for the symptom comes up empty too.

We're back to the old stethoscope trick (suggested earlier) so you can zero in on the noise.

Actually now that i'm driving it more...I'm thinking it's more when i accelerate from 0-25 mph then i don't hear it anymore after i'm going faster than 25 mph
