Take apart steering wheel

HI I have a 2000 Toyota Solara, and need to take apart the light switch on the steering wheel, I need to get inside. How do I take apart the steering wheel so I can look at the switch (instrument). I need to see the wires, as I can no longer turn my back lights on and its not the fuses or the bulbs so maybe I was told it was the control switch that turns the back lights on.

Please advise
Thanks

Are you referring to the illumination lights for the cluster? The dimmer switch is not turn down?

You can get to the head light switch by taking the lower cover off the steering column; two screws behind the steering can be access by turning the steering wheel left and right, and one more underneath.
