Weekly Check Engine Light

On 8/18/08 got a CEL, took it to my car repair place. They said it was in the vacuum system but all checked out. The CEL has been coming on every week since. I have replaced a CCV valve and got an after-market gas cap. After 5 trips to regular repair place, I took it to a dealer. They replace the gas cap with a Toyota gas cap and replaced the VSV canister. CEL light on again after a week. Dealer said it was a new code this time but system is holding pressure and all parts work. He also said it was isolated to the rear of the car. Anyone else had this problem? It's a 2001 Solara with 104,000 miles.

Thanks,
BJ

Codes

The work sheets from my repair place show P0440 on all and one work sheet shows P0442 in addition to the P0440. (I'm assuming these are the codes). The receipts from the dealer do not show codes that I can determine. The CEL came on again this morning and I took it to the dealer again. They replaced a charcoal canister assembly and I was told this is the last part in the system that hasn't been replaced. I only drove about 40 miles since the last visit to the dealer 2 days ago.

Thanks,
BJ

P0440 Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Small Leak)

It's good your dealer is working with you on this. Chasing mysterious leaks can be frustrating.

Cheers
