Probably have a cylinder misfiring, or not firing. Bad coil pack maybe, the codes will tell you which one. Should be P0300, P0301 to P0306, something like that. If you can get the code, then we can help!

Any time the CEL starts blinking when the engine is running, it is saying that the problem you are having has the potential of damaging the Cat if you continue to operate it. The cost will depend very much on what is needed. The best thing to do is find out what the code is, so you will at least have some idea where to go from here.

BTW, how many miles does the car have? Any repair work done before this happened?

Well, 100k is not that many, however, it is at a mileage that anything can happen. Like I said, find out what the code is, then we can give you some suggestion on what is the best route to take.

OK! The first thing you need to do is to clear the codes, either by using a scan tool or disconnecting the battery. You may only have one cylinder misfiring but trigger three misfiring code from three different cylinders. My guess would be on #2 cylinder.

When the CEL comes back on, the one that is store will would be the one to look at. To determine what is causing the problem, you may need to do some parts swapping, put the coil from the cylinder that the code indicates into a different cylinder and same for the spark plug. Then you will have to clear the code a second time, and this time hopefully the code will follow the bad part and move to a different cylinder, and that will be the part that will correct your problem.
