"Re-badging" idea

Ok, maybe this has been done before, in which case you can tell me how it looks.

I was removing all of the badges/decals from my 04 solara today.

I was going to remove the "toyota" emblem in the center of the trunk, but the trunk is shaped with a circle for the emblem, so i figured having nothing there would look pretty bad.

So, I had this idea.

What if I were to take the "Solara" logo, right below the toyota logo, and with a cut and sand make it this:

And put that in the circle molding? It looks like it should just fit, and if it doesn't, I can always trim that good inch of tail off of the last "a."

How do you guys think this will look? I'll probably do it and I'll make sure to post pics.

In my noggin it looks really good, and is likely to look super-clean with a fully de-badged back of the car.

Just to clarify: I'm thinking of putting the "lara" part of the "solara" text emblem in the oval molding where the toyota symbol currently is.

Why? Does "Lara" has any special significance to you, or do you just want to fill the space? Please check, but I think the Toyota emblem has studs on the back which go into holes in the lid, held in by clips. If that's the case, when you remove it, The "lara" might not cover the holes completely. Have fun, whatever you decide to do. Hy.

I want to fill the circle.

I'm getting body work done to fill the holes.

And what do you mean "why?" Some of us like to mod stuff. Ugh, this is why i stay at solaraguy.

Sorry I upset you with my question; I was just curious. Fact is, I was considering removing the emblems as well. The car looks a little like a Lexus convertible/hardtop (my sister-in-law has one) and I had thought that removing the emblems might bring my Solara a little closer to a "Lexus-clone'. I was just wondering if you were thinking along those same lines. That's why I mentioned the need to fill or cover the holes behind the name. And, yes, I do go to the Solaraguy site, as well. There are some cool pictures of customized Solara's there. Unfortunately, financial considerartions put all car modifications on hold for the time being. Good luck with your mods; and post some pictures. Hy

You did not upset me, I was just confused when you asked if 'lara' had some kind of special meaning to me? Surely you've heard people call solara's 'lara' several times before correct? It's a common nickname for the car.

No, I haven't heard of the Solara being called a "Lara." I've seen quite a few Solaras here on Long island and elsewhere over the last few years, but I've only actually spoken to two other Solara owners. Neither of them used that nickname and I had never seen it on any of the on-line sites. I guess I've learned something new today! Thank you. I've just cleared 84k miles on my 05. Thursday I put on my third set of tires and this week I'm going to install a new set of brakes, again third ones on the car. I'm pretty sure the front rotors will have to be replaced as well. I can't really complain. It's given me good service. I would like to add some power to it, perhaps a turbo=charger; but no one seems to have one for the 6 cylinder engine. If anyone hears of any, please let me know. Have a happy holiday, all. Hy
