1999 Solara Check Engine Light - Help - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Hi. I have a 1999 Toyota Solara and I have a problem. The check engine light came on about a week ago and I took it to the Toyota Dealership to see what was wrong because the car wasn't running rough or hesitating or giving poor mileage or anything I would expect to accompany the light. The guy hooked up the scanner and found a trouble code that told him that the issue had to do with the position of the EGR valve but that nothing said that there was anything wrong with the valve itself. He then cleared the code and told me to put premium gas in the next time i filled up in order to clean everything out and that that should fix it. I did as he suggested and the light was off for over a week of driving that included a 400 kilometer road trip, however it has just come back on and will not turn off. Once again there are absolutely no symptoms and the car runs perfectly and I was hoping someone could help before i have to take it back to the dealership. Anyone who can help, thanks a million.

You will have to pull the code before anyone can help you. Without a code, it can be anything, it may even have nothing to do with what you had previously.

go to autozone or adv. auto parts and have them pull the code and write down whatever the code is....probably a PO???. From there, guys here will be better able to help.
