2002 se v6 solara runs great, but 13 mpg in the city

what's wrong with my MPG, do i need to replace my spark plug or something else? Every full tank of fuel (18.5Gl)just ran 240 miles. Any advice? Thank you.

im wondering the same thing. havnt really checked the gas mileage since it dropped but i filled it up last week and now im on 5/8 and the trip says 88.7 miles. something is def. wrong anyone have any ideas?

Something is definitely wrong with both your cars. Depending on the mileage, a tuneup might be needed. But before you do that, I'd recommend a scan of the trouble codes. Even in stop and go NYC traffic, I've managed at least 18mpg. Good luck, and please post what you find. Hy

it's always a good idea to start checking your o2 sensors as well as the ecu tunes with them and you're most likely running really rich

or, there's also a possibility of sludge if proper maintenance hasn't been done for the life of the engine- do a search to find out info about that.

I too have had mileage issues on my 2001 v6. It seems that when the temp drops (single digits F), my mileage drops to as low as 16.5/mpg city. When the temp gets back near freezing, the mileage goes back to 21-22mpg city.

Air filter has been replaced. No performance loss. Plugs are fine. Replaced the gas cap because someone suggested that it may not be making a good enough seal. I've even tried gas from different gas stations and even premium.
