from what I heard (for a gen1 Solara), it is a bit tricky and troublesome process. you have to remove seats and some interior trim of the ceiling.

Yah, it's a bit of work but well worth it.Most important tools will be a torque wrench and a spring compressor.I put a Vogtland/Tokico combo in last summer,took about 6.5-7 hrs.
Do a search over at SolaraGuy.com you'll find all you want to know.
