1999 Solara SLE v6 KeyFob Question

Hey folks,

I have been all around the web and back and I am in need of some good information at last. I think I have the right place [please prove me right].

Right, here we go.
I have a SLE V6 1999 and I bought it used. It came with a keyfob [aftermarket, egg shaped one] If you need a picture I can take one. Anyway, its a piece of junk and a button fell out and it works only at very close range. I purchased an OEM one [more rectangular shaped] Will this work? I am seemingly unable to put the car in the right mode to even test to program the remote. If I need to buy another, I would still need apropriate instructions, does anybody have thse? Additionally, today I washed my car and cleaned it out a bit for the upcoming spring. I noticed the toyota alarm or theft deterant system thingy buy the cig. lighter. It has a red light that will blink along with a speaker as it seems. Now I pulled apart my dash and some things were pulled out so I put it back together and for a moment I had a beeping sound when I locked/unlocked the car. I never had this before! And sadly, now, it is gone again. What wire(s) should I be looking at to find the problem, or what else could I look for to get this beeping sound back. Thanks for any and all assistance, forgive my ignorance and bad grammar.

Every key fob I've replaced had to be reprogrammed at the dealership. Yours is probably the same. On my 05, that beeping sound is programmed in or out using the key fob! Again, yours is probably the same. Sorry to say, you probably need to bring the car and the key fob to a dealer. By the way, when my wife lost the key and fob for her Nissan, the cost for replacement and reprogramming was just over @200! Oh, and if you plan on having two key fobs, you need to get them now so that the dealer can reprogram both of them at the same time. Otherwise, when you later buy a second fob, you'll have to have both of them reprogrammed to match. Good luck. Hy

I appreciate the response but I know some things about my system at least.
I know it is a dealer installed alarm with a Toyota insignia. The alarm system and the BEEPING sound is activated by the fob, but the sound is not generated by the fob itself. I currently have a working fob and I believe my problem for the beeping sound lies within the wires. I would need a wiring schematic that shows where the wire runs to, where it gets power from and if there is any fuses I could be checking. Additionally the high cost for fobs for really any 02 and up is because they are more sophisticated and need to be professionally programed using some sort of machine or something like that. While older cars [mine included] just use a series of steps to put the car in 'fob activation mode' hah. So really that is what I need to know, or sometimes it could be something todo with a jumper cable some where or I heard someone mention something about the alarm ECU...either way, nothing todo with the dealer, but thanks.
