2000 solara sle v6

My horn stopped working, I have pinpointed the problem to the steering wheel, how can I access the contacts w/o activating the airbag. I did a 4 wheel brake job recently, after driving for 20 minutes my check engine light comes on, after driving for another hour my traction control light comes on. I disconnect the battery to eliminate codes but same secuence occurs after driving, any ideas?

I moved your thread to the Solara section. You are more likely to find a solution here than in the Introduction section.
Welcome to TN.

not sure about the horn thing, but when you were doing the brake job, did you happen to pinch/slice one of the lines? Are you leaking any brake fluid?

You need to double-check with a service manual (which you can find in a library if you don't want to buy one), but ususally, to diactivate the airback system you need to disconnect the battery. Then turn on the headlamps to drain the back-up capacitor. Then carefully disconnect the airbag module. I strongly urge you to get the exact sequence of disconnect from a manual. As to the electrical problems: You need to scan the codes to find out what's going wrong. Obviously, one or more sensors are picking up a problem. I suspect you crimped a wire while you were doing the brake job, but there's no real way to tell from here. Again, a manual with the code and sersor breakdown would help you. Sorry I can't give more detailed advice , but there's just too much unknown here. Hy

I had both of te exact same problems. I have a 04 Solara. the engine and the traction light was te gas cap. lol ... I bought one of those computer diagnostic machines. and a Toyota repair manual. I got a fuel press low from the computer. The gas cap was the first thing I checked. Put the gas cap on. reset the code for te engine light. problem solved. the horn. once again repair manual. schematics in the back. disconnect on the horn was the easiset thing to check. there was the problem. problem #2 solved
