USA 2000 Blinkers won't work

Ok guys and gals, my son recently got a 2000 Solara. I can’t seem to get the blinkers to work. I checked the fuses all were fine, power on each side, the hazards work, so it can’t be a bulb. My question is everything else on the switch works fine like the headlights, high beams but I can’t find the flasher? One book a have said the hazards and the blinkers use the same flasher, but another book said it was separate and showed a picture of it under the dash on the drivers side of the steering column. I looked but I can't find one there? Any help would be great.
Thanks

It does use the same flasher unit. You might have a problem with the turn signal switch itself. Try this and see if it is of any help to you: http://www.camrystuff.com/manuals/Ge...Electrical.pdf. It is for a Camry but should be similar to the Solara.

The hazard light switch completes the circuit for the turn signals. If it somehow became unplugged or has an internal fault, you'd be left with no turn signals. If the hazards work when you push the switch, then it's the turn signal stalk/switch on the steering column.

Is that the hazard switch or relay you are talking about?
