2nd Generation E7001 Factory Navigation

Heres the deal !!! I have a 2004 Toyota Solara with the premium JBL sound system. The ribbon cable that goes from the deck to the display tore from constantly opening and closing the navigation unit. SOOO. I reported this malfunction to the dealership. Not covered by the factory warrenty or the extended warrenty ... just my luck ... to add insult to injury the dealership wanted 2500.00 to fix the problem ... UNACCEPTABLE ... my first thought was aftermarket ... so I looked at the PIONEER AVIC-z3. Nice system and I found them for as cheap as 875.00 ... then I was told by the Toyota dealership that I would have to re-run the antenna and bypass the amplifier. I dont know if the guy knew exactly what he was talking about. I know that the amplifier would have to be bypassed but a new antenna ??? Can anyone confirm this claim ??? I really like to keep my vehicle looking stock, so I really want to stay away from re-running new cables, and by-passing components. Which led me in search of OEM repalcement parts. I found a E7006 out of a 06' ... I think its out of an 06' Camry ... Both units look exactly the same ... My Denso is a E7001 ... Are they Interchangable??? Once again I called the Toyota dealership, and the answer I got was "they have different part numbers" ... Really ... What was this guys first clue??? ... After spending a short time trying to explain to the guy that I knew they were different parts, and all I wanted to know is if they were interchangable ... The answer I finally got was "I dont Know" ... I did some research and found out that some 04' Solara's have a digital amplifier and some a analog. I believe that the E7006 works with the digital amp and the E7001 works with the analog. The consumer report says that the SE's have a amplifier and the SLE's have a premium amplifier ... Does that mean Digital ??? That would explain why the report said digital amps were installed in 04' and up, and on a seperate website it said anlog amps were on 02' to 04' ... Am I totally off base with these assumptions ??? I wouldn't even mind keeping the same E7001 that came with the vehicle, but I cant find one anywhere at a reasonable price ... my last dilema is the version map disc I have is 4.1 ... Will that work with the new E7006 ??? or do I have to buy a new disc as well if I decide to take that E7006 option ??? If you can shed some light on any of these issues I would appreciate it ... If you have any suggestions I gladly accept those too ... Please Help
