2nd Generation Car alarm and key/remote questions

I ordered a RS3200 Plus OEM alarm system from trdparts4u and i'm going to have my local dealer put it in.

Here's the part I'm not sure about - I only have 1 set of key/remote and I'm ordering a replacement online. The new key will have to be cut/programmed by the dealer and I plan to program the remote myself to save money. Should I have the new set of key/remote programmed before have the alarm is put it, or does the order really not matter (i.e. program the extra remote afterwards)?

thanks!

First-- Slow down m8. The new alarm is going to be secondary to the first. You will you have dual FOBs, original nd new from new system. Since you didn't put your year or model, option questions like this need to be addressed by the installer. You can get FOBs with six buttons. In my case, my system aquments my factory system; it was set up as most to lock the doors which sets both alarms by natural design. By Locking the doors you set the Factory unit. The additionsl unit should have auto door locks so throw out the factory FOB and have an additional button to function as the trunk release. Hope that helps

I bought a set of spare keys and a used remote, programmed the remote myself, then took the 07 solara to toyota of pasadena and had them install the OEM alarm/cut keys. It worked out just fine. Thanks!

Wink

I have the SRT 9000 by Code Alarm. I love this alarm!!! It has everything you can think of on an alarm.

1 mile range
remote start
window mod
trunk release
two way paging remote
turbo timer (for when i get a turbo)
auto temp start (which i dont use cuz i live in Texas)
daily time start
anti car jacking feature
temp check (i can check the temp of the inside from my remote)
control up to 4 vehicles w/1 remote
built in garage door opener in remote (i love this, cuz when i start my car w/remote it automaticly opens my garage door)

Best of all a 1-800 number to control the features anywhere in the world as long as my Solara is in the USA.

Im sure I left out something. This alarm does it all and Im very satisfied with my purchase.
