A/C issue

My GF owns a 2006 Solara and recently the A/C light will blink for a couple minutes, blow warm air, and then start working again. On the two occasions the car has done this, she has run through good size water puddles. Could the issue be water getting on the belt, or should I start with the magnetic clutch relay I keep reading about on here? Is the compressor/clutch coil low enough in the engine compartment to be susceptible to getting wet? Has anyone run into that problem? Any help will be much appreciated.

I'm going to go with the wet belt being the issue. The A/C light blinks when the rpms of the compressor and of the engine start to mismatch (making the computer think that the compressor is locking up, or at least overloading, so it turns off the magnetic clutch for a bit).

That's kinda what I was thinking. Now she's saying today that sometimes the air isn't as cold, but when she hits the temp button for a cooler air temperature the air all of a sudden gets cooler. I told her that could be a result of it being an R134 system, and a lack of airflow. Sometimes sitting at a light an R134 will not cool the air sufficiently so she's going to pay attention to that next time. Hopefully, she's not running low on freon, or has a leak...or both. Thank you for your help.
