I was wondering if anyone who lowered their solara, noticed that their ABS light stays on now. I just had the ebaich springs 1.6'' drop and KYB struts added and my ABS light is now on. The guys at the shop (Driver's Image) Said this usually happens when they drop toyota's and that the breaks are fine. They said just to have the dealership turn it off next time I bring it in.....Anyone know anything about this ??

If I was you I would check that out at your dealer I think the broke one of your ABS sensors when they took off you wheels.I did my own suspension and blew one of those ABS sensors when I forgot to loosen it.

Go back to Driver's Image and tell them that they snagged one of your sensor wires, and tell them they will need to pay for costs to repair it if necessary. It is probably your right rear one. I had the same problem when I just had the Eibach springs put on my Camry by a friend. Luckily, my dealer replaced the faulty sensor under warranty.

Also, unless you know the guys at DI, please don't go there again, they are less than moronic there. As of now, your ABS is NOT functioning, and whoever told you that should has his ass kicked!!! It's not a simple "turn off" function, and it "usually" occurs only because they are a bunch of dumb asses who are careless. I've put in my Stage III suspension and a set of GC/Tokico on a friend's Solara with NO problems at all. Driver's Image can suck my toe jam.

Exactly! The ABS light could be caused by damage to its sensors which are located at the wheel well. It is entirely possible for it to be damaged in the installation.

Thanks you guys, for all your responses, this forum is great. Am just getting into cars now and am trying to learn as much as possible.

So you think my ABS system isn't working at all now ?? Or just the sensors is messed up ? How much do you think the fix will be at the dealership ?

Any of you know how the KYB struts will work with the 1.6'' drop from the eibachs ?? So far I love them, but have heard mixed things about the KYB giving out. Can I expect the quality of drive I have now for the next couple years with just my normal everyday driving ??
Thanks

Hopefully, it's just one sensor, the right rear one. I think there was a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued out by NHTSA about the fragility of the right rear one when servicing suspension. You may want to try and find that post and bring it to your dealer.

Typically from softest to firmest: OEM < KYB < Tokico < TRD-Bilstein. I have the last one, one still has the OEM, and the other has the Tokico, so now, you can fill that empty spot. But it should definitely last you for the next couple of years.

Hey Luc, thanks again for all your help, look forward to meeting you guys. Anyway, get this....I wanted the Tokico's because I couldn't really put the money down for the TRD Blistens, and of course Drivers Image said they could only get the 3 of them in and the 4th wouldn't be in for over a month, and that the KYB's were just as good..bastards sold me on that
I should have just bought the Tokico's from SHOX.com...oh well I am happy right now with the KYB's as long as they last awhile it's all good
