Highly Resistyive Shifting of Transmission

I own a 2005 Solara convertable SLE and for the last month the shifting from park to reverse or park to drive as been getting difficult. As long as I get it into the correct position all works OK with transmission. I pull up the console to expose the shift mechanism and didn't find any foreign material. I disconnected the shift linkage and the shift mechanism flowed freely. I checked the link cable through the firewall and onto the top portion of the transmission and found no kinks or abnormalities.

When the cable enters into the transmission does anyone know what goes on there? Is there a shifting lever that can become stiff within the transmission?

Can anyone advise me on this? It seems the cable entrance into the transmission is blocked from view.

Thanks,

Randy

can't help on where to find it, but around 30k my 2006 sle convert did the same thing. dealer said plastic sleeve was crumpling and hanging up and replaced it for around $90. we have 67k on it now and it's starting to feel tight again.
