2000 Solara Overheating Issues

Hello all!! New to forum!
2000 Toyota Solara 2.2 with 180k.
Here's my Situation:
Car was overheating passing the normal middle position so I decided to change the radiatior, upper and lower hoses, thermostat, waterpump, timing belt, and ecu temperature sensor on the inlet to the head. Car is still overheating especially when I drive uphill. When I turn the heater on the car usually goes back to normal temperature. I even override my cooling fans to have them on and still doesn't help. I don't know what else the problem is? Any suggestions? Your help is appreciated!

How hot is it getting? Up to top of the gauge or is it just moving a noticeable amount? I wouldnt really trust it. Mine moves a bit with just a 10 to 15 degree climb (verified with OBD2 scanner) so you might not be overheating at all. Its normal to run hotter up hill. Sure nothing is blocking air flow to the radiator?

Nothing is blocking the air flow to the radiator. I currently have the fan on the driver's side on override, do I need to do both? My temperature is about 55 to 60% on normal driving and then it is 90% almost to 95% red zone as I am going uphill. I don't know what the problem is...heater core? Thanks

Overheating meaning what? Overheating usually means the car has stopped working because of heat related issues.


It is normal in high usage (like hill driving) for the gauge to move.

I doubt it is the heater core as you are getting heat.

Did you run a rad flush through the system when you did all the work?

Is the rad fluid Toyota Pink? If not then there is a chance corrosion is blocking some of the piping in the rad.

Uphill driving the car goes close to the danger red zone. The radiator fluid is not pink. I will do a pressure radiator flush and see what the results are. Thanks
