Solara in Tallahassee

Yo, my wife bought a new Solara in '05, it's been flawless, looks new, and has just turned over 100,000 miles. What a fantastic car!

Since I'm the chief mechanic around here, its modest maintnence requirements fall to me. So far, that's amounted to um, de nada. (oil/filter changes are done at a quicky lube place -- since the local Toyota dealer left the drain plug finger tight on their first attempt) Lucky for me, but I have noticed just lately (I rarely drive the car) a rumbling noise which I attribute to a wheel bearing in the left front. I have three questions, one regarding that noise, and two others of a more general tenor:

1: There's an excellent DIY write-up for the front wheel bearing replacement here. I've PM'd its author, BMR, to inquire whether it would apply to an '05 Solara. Anybody know?

2: The navigation system's maps are getting a little stale. Any cheap update for this?

3: The radio cries out for an iPod port (jack?) so that one can feed the iPod audio directly into the radio. Anone know of any product for this? (PS: I've tired those little puppies that work on an RF signal to the FM radio. They're non-starters for me. Want to hard wire it.)

Thanks. Any comments welcome, including whether I should put these questions in the more specific sections of the forum.

Ain't the internet GREAT!!!

I hope someone "in the know" answers you in regards to hardwiring an ipod. I've wished the same thing but lack the proficiency to pursue it.
In the meantime I've been using the device listed below with good results. I drive to DC each day and there is a lot of radio interference in the area but the Monster Transmitter works well. Good luck!

Monster iCarPlay Wireless 300 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone - Digital player FM transmitter

Cheap navigation DVD upgrade. I bought one for my '06 Solara. Just pop it in and go.
