I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to drive, or owns a new solara convertable. The new models look great in convertable.
Any leaks noticed???
wierd noises???
Now that was a fun car to test drive. I didn't had the chance to lower the roof while I was driving it around. But that car is no different from the regular solara. Hella expensive though. $26,460 msrp.
Well it's funny reading the post of you in the states saying that $26000 is expensive, Do you want to know how much we must pay for the exact same car here in Puerto Rico?
I paid for my SLE Coupe 04, $32000 back in November , it was stolen when I got my money from the Insurance, i went to buy another one and saw the Convertible, I picked one SLE White Pearl with Black top, MSRP here is $36995.
You do the math, the difference is just a Tax that my beloved Government applies to all cars, and that's not all, it increases according to the price of the car, so Can you imagine what is the cost of the SC 430 here, jeje, just add to your price around $13000 for that taxes. But that's not all, once you get it, then your car just worth what the Black Book says it worth, Funny isn't it?
Ahh, I forgot something, what about parts?, Hey we must order from the same dealer or shops than you, only difference is that our price is the same than yours, PLUS, most of the time UPS 2nd day air, that to give you an example is an average of $55 everytime we order something, like the Strut Bar, Sway Bars, Springs, etc...
My intentions were not to offend you or anything negative, just to let you all know that our costs are always a hella more expensive than what you pay for the same Car or Item. Of course being a student will limit you but have faith once you finish you will pick whatever car you like.
JEJE, that makes me think about another topic, our College Expenses..., Don't worry, won't bother you with all our Government crap.
Just bought a new solara convertible a couple months ago and haven't noticed any weird noises or leaks at all. I've driven it in rain top up and sun top down, no problems at all, yet. It's an awesome car! Very happy with it and hopefully won't encounter any problems in the future!
Hell yeah, they're fun to Drive.
My '05 SLE V6 Convertible (all stock) is better than the last convertible My family had ( '03 Mercedes CLK430)
The steering is extremely Gentle compared to every other car I've driven, there's hardly any resistance. It handles like a cat on it's toes. For my taste, it's a little too high off the ground, but that's just my opinion. Not only that, but It's more powerful than I expected, the 3.3L V6 makes a Sexy high-pitched "Vwheeee" especially at high revs. I turned off TCS and ripped it up a little, In one Brake-Drop I had the wheels spinning for a good 5 Seconds solid, with a screech that would make you think it was a 350 Camaro. It's stable on the highway, even with the top down, you can get up to 90 and hardly realize it. Just whatever you do, dont leave anything light in the back seat that could blow out (I.E. Papers, hats, umbrellas, Small Children)

when I first drove my Solara... the steering was oh so easy and soft. Felt as though it was truly a luxury car.
