99 Solara intermittent window problems

I have a '99 Solara. The driver's window has an intermittent problem. I will lower the window, and then when I want to raise it, it is as if the switch is dead. Keep trying the switch, and eventually it will go up. *whew* (One time, it started to raise and then went slower, and slower and slower and I thought maybe it wouldn't make it up, but it did.)
I am at the point now that I don't want to lower it because what if one of these times it won't raise?
Question: Switch is bad or motor is bad?
Of course, both are expensive to replace. I have tried to get to my repair shop during the times when it is "not working" but by the time I get there, it raises just fine. *grrrrrr*. BTW: The passenger window works fine. This problem has been happening since last summer.
Now, another issue:
Yesterday, I pressed the "Tilt Up" button on my power sunroof and it started to slide open and closed, open and closed, open and closed. *what the?* I pressed the button to close it and it kept opening and closing. To get it closed, I had to "tap" on the button and it would inch closed. Finally got it completely shut. No way I am trying it again. *bites nails*
Dangit... now two out of three window switches are bad? or two motors?
Anyone else having these problems? or knows what I should do?
I really like to lower and raise the windows! It's a nice "feature". Especially since my air conditioning is not working. (Another boat-load of money to fix that problem -- "Oh What A Feeling")
Sorry for the long post and I thank you in advance for your help.
-Renee

If you've got the original motors on your windows, consider yourself lucky. I've been through several on my '97 Avalon, but nothing so far on the Solara. You can get replacement motors and window regulators fairly cheap online, but some don't seem to last as long as others. As far as the sunroof, my Avy hasn't had any problems, but I can't wait for the day when we can't drop the top on the Solara. Yikes!
