99 Solara Dome Light issues

I have a '99 Solara.
I have to replace my (interior) dome lamp about every 1.5 to 2 months.
Really?
Seems like before this started happening I had the same dome lamp for years... suddenly they don't last long at all.
Cheaply made bulbs or a bad socket or switch?

Just posted another thread about the power window and sunroof switches.
Maybe all of the switches in my car are going on strike!!

weird.

Could be you have some weird electrical issues, I know the dome light in the Avalon used to go out regularly. It turns out the socket for the bulb isn't made very well (a little clip on each end), and any vibration would loosen it up. Wiggle the bulb next time to see if it comes back on, then you'll know which part is bad. If it is burning out, then you have a short somewhere.

I was replacing my dome/map lights (or living without) every month or two as well and when the dome/map light fried its diode (used to allow individual control of map lights), I finally just took it all apart tied the two together and replaced the bulbs with LED arrays, and almost 2 years later not a problem (not to mention much brighter than stock bulbs). My rear seat light popped a few weeks ago (on original '02 bulb, that one never gave me troubles) and I now converted it to LED as well. I just installed the "Car Festoon+T10+AB99 4*0.5W 2W T10 100-Lumen White LED Light Bulb - Aluminum Shell" kits (sku 13429) from dealextreme (I soldered the map/dome replacements in as I suspect the lamp sockets were part of the problem burning out bulbs, but the rear seat I used the socket adapter included in the kit).

I think everyone should convert to LED interior lights, you never have to change them, and you can leave them on overnight and you're not going to run down the battery.
