Just got a Solara. Dealer took the CEL out. Found 8 codes. Suck!

Yep. In a lapse of judgement, I forgot my CEL scanner at home and didn't even think to look for a CEL being on.

I found my scanner today and found these codes:

P0135, P0446, P1410, P1411, P0402, P0446 (pending), P0135 (pending), P1410 (Pending).

They're all emissions related, and fortunately, I live in Indiana, where we have no emissions testing.

Now, the biggest one I am wondering over, is replacing the VSV. How do you test for the VSV being bad, or which one is it usually? If it's the charcoal canister one, can I just go yank a can from a junk yard Camry?

Any advice on these codes is appreciated.

I will probably just go ahead and replace all of the oxygen sensors and the EGR valve.

It's a 1999 Solara SE v6 with an automatic transmission. 176,000 miles. Outside is near immaculate. Inside is nice, but has a rip in the driver's seat bolster. It runs like a brand new car.

Oh yeah and the ABS light is on.

This car doesn't have a TRACS button like some Toyotas that I've driven. Does an SEV6 have TRACS?

No, it was a used car: As-is with no warranty.

I'm not trying to get anything out of it, but I won't recommend that place to anyone.

The dealer took the check engine light bulb out? How crazy is that? That's low! I'd post who they are right here and make those scums public to warn others.
What I'd do if I were you is clear all and start fresh to see what comes up in the next drive cycle. Never mind pending codes for now, just the hard codes.
Drive it. Put a hundred miles or so on it.

Yes, it certainly does suck. I would place blame on the dealership, however, it could have been the previous owner trying to get a better deal on trade-n value.

And that's the thing: I can't prove anything.

I cleared the codes and they did come back, so I'll have to get down to business.

I have all four new Oxygen sensors at my friend's house (I keep forgetting them there)

I won't post the dealer's name until i get the title. In Indiana, the dealer has to apply for the title into the dealership's name, which takes a week or two. That being said, I have to wait on the title still. So I am not willing to hand out that information until I receive the title.

If you haven't already, invest in a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual. If i remember correctly it will tell you how to test the VSV. Before you replace the charcoal canister or VSV check your gas cap. If someone doesn't make sure its click 3 times when closing it, it will throw EVAP codes. Also replacing the seal on the gas cap would be good to do which may help prevent the EVAP codes.
