Aftermarket Stereo

Just wanted to put a question out there for everyone, hoping to get some guidance on this...
i went to a store looking to buy an aftermarket head unit for my 99 Solara. They told me not to buy one because i would have to replace all my speakers, essentially replace the enitre system due to having the JBL sound system in the car already. Is this true or should i just go to a more specialized stereo place and they would be able to install it? Any guidance on this would be fantastic. I want to have a headunit that will take a jumpdrive for tunes instead of using a tape adapter for my MP3 player.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide me

Thanks...Looks like when a new one is installed it will bypass the factory amp, How did the sound change in your camry when you installed a new stereo?

Hi. I was just wondering if you ever installed an aftermarket radio in your Solara? I just purchased a 1999 Solara with JBL sound system and want to know if it is possible to put my after market radio in it or not? The dash mount doesn't look tall enough to fill in an opening where my factor receiver is.

Thanks

You have to buy double din stuff ether a double din mounting kit or a double din stereo I don't have the premium sound system I made own my 04 solara did come with factory 6 ohm speakers I did have to replace but I don't think the jbl system has that problem but you can look on the speaker around the magnet or on the bottom it should tell you the ohms it will handle and the watts it can handle
