2002 Solara convertible heat problem

My heater's not working. It blows cool air (A/C off) at settings of 85 and below, but will blow hot air when set to HOT. Any ideas?

I would guess that it is your heater core I don't know of any way to check one but they are not to hard to put in and don't cost alot but if you don't get any hot air ill bet that's it

I've been fighting the same TYPE of issue on my 2000 SLE coupe for 2 years now. I live with it, then I get tired of it and do something- but never quite fix it.

At first I get heat during the normal settings, but after 20 minutes or so- the temp goes down, and I gotta crank up the setting. Hoever- I also noticed the is true when cooling during summer-there is almost no mix unless cranked.

I've changed the 3 sensors(above right knee on drivers side, little bubble on top left of dash, and below radiator support under hood), and I've changed the LCD control itself.

Next on my list to change is the ECT for EFI switch next to Thermostat, as I've read some cryptic references to it and odd readings. I also suspect it for delayed 2-3 upshift when cold.

If thats not it- then it gotta be the control bd attached to bleend door box behind dash and console. I've seen it in operation and its a BEEE-AACH to get out.
