Just wondering if anyone has tried an autocross event with their Solara?

Hey there! Welcome aboard!

I don't have a solara but I treid Solo II with my Gen3 camry. What do you need to know?

Also, I assume you have a 5 speed solara? Please come to our meet next weekend (Sunday)!

I just really wanted to know how succesful people have been. I'm not really going out to win, but just to have some fun. My best time this weekend was mid-pack for the class (front wheel drive, stock), so I was pretty happy, considering it was my first event.

Yes, I do have the five speed. That's pretty much what sold me on a bigger car (compared to the Corolla, Civic and Integra I've owned in the past). I found the tourque rather usefull. Where the Miatas were shifting 3 or 4 times per run, I only needed one shift from first to second through the last half of the course. I'm sure this saved me some time.

I've seen a video of a Red Solara running Streets of Willow...

I just wanted to know, do you have 17x7" motegi rims or 17x8"?

I did mediocre on the auto-x I went with the subaru guys, the whole track is designed for smaller cars with *very* tight corners. Plus I ran with my all-seson 15" tires, now I need some new rubber before going to the next one.

My Motegi rims are 17x7. They barely fit the rear with the 235 rubber. I can't quite squeeze my finger between the inside of the tire and the coil. No problems yet - don't really expect any, it's not that tight.

I know the TRD package uses a TSW 17x7 with 225/45/17 Toyos. So I figured my pick would be a good fit.
