Any Solara boys out there???

I'm looking into getting a Solara dual mode shifter for my Camry. I was wondering how the 2004, 2005 auto shifter operates?

Does it work like a regular auto shifter except for the dual gate?

Or does it act like a manual without a clutch?

Example: Say you have it in the manual side in thrid gear, and you stomp the gas pedal. Does it a) lug the motor down and the RPM drop? or b) It automatically down shifts for you into first.

Also, looking at the pictures on the net it looks like there is no reverse lock out button common on other autos. Does it just rely on the gates as a lock out means?

And where it the O/D bypass button?

Thanx,

Mike

i'm assuming your wanting to go from a straight line shifting to a gate-type shifting in your car? WOV? i always assumed you needed new tranny components as well..in addition to the new linkages, cus its more than just a shifter.

(this was cus i was looking into gatetype shifting in a 03 rolla - from altise, but i decided to buy a solara instead).
