I need to get a family car as a replacement for my pearl white 2000 Solara. I looked up pricing on autos.yahoo.com and
www.kbb.org and
www.consumerreports.com; all of these sites suggest that my car with 29k miles should trade around $11,500 to $12,250. The dealer said those are his retail prices! Of course, I don't believe him. Any suggestions? The car is free of dents and door dings. The glass is free of cracks. The car is a V6 SLE with: black leather, 6 disc in-dash changer, JBL sound, tinted windows (no bubbles), auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and (I'm embarrased to admit) the gold package.
As an aside, I've added Eibach springs and Tokico struts which the dealer doesn't want. Nor does he want my 17" Fittipaldi Flame wheels and Yoko ES100 tires. I figure I'll take these off and put the original equipment back on. Then I'll sell these separately for what I can get.
So, my question is...
Are these websites wrong or is the dealer trying to take advantage of me? What should I expect to get for it? Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Cheers
