What size is the midbass in the door? (I have the JBL system if that matters) with the seprate tweeter.

I was told the only HU kit to fit a reg DIN HU was the pocket. To me it looks like the pocket won't fit cause the screw holes are on the side, how would it mount?

Can 2002 (I like them better than mine) brake lights fit on a 99.

The front doors hold 6 1/2'' speakers with 1'' tweeters in the upper part of the door. If you are thinking of replacing; the crossover also fits inside the door.
The backs by the way are 6 x 9

Well if you purchase a single DIN receiver, I know you can use the CD tray adaptor. It works just fine, even with the problem of having the receiver sticking out a bit (damn yota brakets). The only problem one typically has is using the trim pieces that come with most receivers. Well anyways this is how mine looked before (with the CD tray) I added the flip out TV:

And after:

Okay did you screw anything in (meaning the tray) or did you just side it in with the radio then put the dash trim ring back on? I just don't see how the tray/pocket screws in.. I already have my hu and everthing else.

One more thing Crutchfield and Sounddomain shows that 7" could be used as a easy fit(drop in) in the Solara.....???

Well from what I remember the tray I bought had holes for the side screws as well....so once you took out the entire dash cover and was able to see the 1st and 2nd DIN spaces...you were able to use the screws to screw in both the top and bottom slots. Let me see if I can find my old CD tray when I get back home to make sure (at work at the moment)

Also....do you mean 7in speakers?
