Solara keyless remote, option or standard?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum, we just purchased a 99 Solara for the wife, and we love it! However, we didn't get a keyless remote with the car. I don't know if the car has this option or not, is there any way to tell?
Or, was this a standard feature for this model?
I plan to purchase a remote from ebay and program it, if our car has this feature. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Here in Canada if it was a SE V6 or SLE V6 it should have come with keyless entry however if you got a 4 cylinder it might not,
I got ours with it and plus they threw in a remote starter too.

Thanks, it's a SE V6 so I'm hoping it has this feature. Guess I'll make a trip to the Toyota dealer, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.

You could always buy the remotes off ebay and program them yourself.

Yes, that's what I had planned to do, but I don't even know if I have the keyless remote option.

i bought a 2000 solara se v6 auto, and i also didnt recieve a remote entry control, today i took it to dealer first they wanted to charge me to find out if i have the keyless entry system, i meet another guy there and he told me he wouldnt charge me to find out, turns out thery tired both remotes and there was no response, he told me there is not keyless entry system for my car. now on my dash there is a lil square red light, that says security? i asked him what was it for since it doesnt come with keyless entry? he said the fractory sercurtiy system i have is in my key, it has someting in it so no other key can start ur car? he said toyota charges 100 bucks for a new key programmged? he also said u best bet for a keyless entry system is jus go with a aftermaerket system. so i guess dats what ill have to do, shit those ebay remotes was jus my price range lol

That is not the way to check if you have keyless remote or not. What I would do is to call other Toyota dealers, tell them that you want to order a new remote for you car but want to check if your car has the keyless entry option or not. Then give them the VIN. They can check that out using just the VIN. After they tell you the price, tell them that you will get back to them because you are not sure whether you want to spend your left arm for a remote at the Toyota dealer.

yeah i asked them before to jus run the vin and they said they couldnt find out that way , they have to pull it into the shop????so dats what they did, he said he tired programming some remotes and it didnt respond?? i found a cheap aftermarket alarm for a bill
