2005 Solara Convertable

Hello,

I have 3,000 miles on my 2005 white pearl convertable but I have an incessant noise from where the window glass meets the weatherproofing. It's hard to describe as it's not a squeek or a rattling noise but of glass rubbing on rubber as the car hits bumps.

As an experiment I put a thin coating of petroleum jelly on the rubber and it was silent. Two problems though, it leaves a layer of jelly on the top edge of the glass and in about 2 weeks it wears off and noise resurfaces.

Anyone have any suggustions?

Thanks,
Randy

im assumign that it gets cold there.....you need to use some type of rubber treatment on the seals to let them relax, The stuff we use is a spray on. You can probably find this at any automotive shop.

I just dropped my '05 convertable (~700 miles) at the dealer to fix the same apparent problem. Whenever I would hit a bump in the road, railroad track, or driveway, I would get a clunk noise from the drivers side window. It described it as a glass to metal sound and it never happened if the window was down more than an inch or so. The service manager said he thought it might be the window motor mount being loose as that has occurred often on these cars. I pick the car up Saturday after returning from a business trip and can post an update on the results.

USA 2005 Solara Convertible SLE with 15,000 miles...no problems!

Hello! I'm new to this club. I purchased my 2005 Solara on September 29, 2004. I put a LOT of miles on a car, and I already have 15,000 miles on this one. I have not had a single problem yet. It's been great! I LOVE this car!

No luck here

The dealer claims it's a somewhat normal sound as the car crosses over roadway bumps and flexes. I found if I open the drivers window a 1/4" the noise is never heard. The tech who rode with me said he heard it on the passenger side too. I wish I had a better solution. It appears to be the front window rubbing against the rear window weather seal that is making the noise.

Can anyone else confirm or provide a long lasting resolution?

Thats not normal, take it to the dealer and tell them you want it fixed.

I had sounds coming from my rotors that they said was normal and I took it back and they replaced both rotors. And guess what, no more noise from the rotors.
