New Guy with a Solara

So ya... I'm here because I used to own a Silvia and was extremely into that car with a 240 forum till I could not do anything anymore.. and I lost my license.. lol.. now I'm a born again driver and I found a nice v6 solara se (blk-stick-leather-lowered-18" giovanni's... not on the car now and I want nicer rims)... and I want to become part of a nice forum about my car and see how much fun I can have with like owners....

What do I do? Should I keep this sucker and what can I do to have fun with this car? Its a nice lookin car I'll admit and it can corner like a bitch.. but I want to know are there fun kits .. add-ons and other things for this car? projector headlights and what not sounds good too..

I'm a newbie for toyota- I've owned nissans for my past 4 cars so this is new..

Help me out here you toyota pro's..

ask questions or comment!

Car also came with a TRD exhaust and some makeshift ebayish looking cold air intake... got a nice growl up top and quiet at cruising...

So what to do?

welcome to the toyota family

sorry to say, but youll be sadly dissapointed with the aftermarket support for your solara compared to your 240. The most popular engine mod seems to be the TRD supercharger, everything else will pretty much have to be custom.

and incase you didn't know, your engine code is 1MZ-FE, same as the camry and avalon

while not as easy to mod as a 240, still an enormous amount of fun, ive hardly even touched my 13's Honda CRX since ive owned my Sol. Ive got her down to a 14.1 in the 1/4 mile and should be alot lower this year. Its the unexpected tuner car, which is why i like it, no one expects a Sol to take off on WRX or in Integra, so its quite a plus on our end. Hopefully ill catch you at one of the Long Island Meets. I think thats as close as i get to you.

Take care, i hope you stick with it!
Marc

So is there a standard site to go too for solara parts? Custom is not a problem, IE-I installed my own angel eyes inside my last 240. Definitely creative, just interested in what you guys have done to your cars???...

and Marc... where do you guys have these meets, I love going to meets with people that have my car type.. let me know about this!

hit me back peoples!

Were you on Rowan's Campus like a week or two ago? I saw a Solara almost indentical to yours (I was walking, not in my car) wondering if that was you.

Definitely go to Solaraguy.com...that's where most of us reside.

Congratulations. We've got a few guys in solaraguy.com taking bigger and safer steps towards running higher boost with the trd supercharger. JoeB posts in solaraguy.com. This year he's had his motor built from Arrieta Motorsports in Clinton, Md. With the combination of running higher boost and "NAWS"( NOS) he's expected to do real well at the track.

Welcome. While there's not a lot of mods for the Solara, just be prepared to drop some dough for parts that are overpriced.
