? from a newbie

Whatsup everyone, I just picked up a 99 black SLE. I am wondering if it is possible to fit an inline 6 Supra motor in a Solara. If not, what is the best new mod for a power hungry newbie like myself. I was thinking either a header, catback, and a new cat. Or should I go with a set of coilovers? If the Supra swap isnt possible, I will later be putting in a TRD supercharger. I know nothing about stuff like this, all I know about muscle cars but my parents wanted to get me a classy daily driver. Thanks for any input.

Your best bet is the TRD supercharger, JP headers, Injen ram air intake with UPFD cold air extension and SAFC-II. After you've done those things you can start looking into other options.

Forget the supra motor, you have a FWD car, and that engine is for RWD, you'll need to do alot of modifications, including turning your solara into RWD

Well unless your parents are rich, I wouldn't even consider doing those kind of mods, except maybe the intake...TRD s/c costs about 3 grand, maybe cheaper if it's used. Not sure about turbos. Headers are also about $1500 if I recall correctly. So is this your first car?

be honest with you solara was not build for performance but for comfortable driving experience. Aftermarket parts support is very limit, unless you are loaded and you are willing to get some custom parts.

if you really want performance, perhap your best bet is get into a kick ass college and hopefully your parent would get another car for you. Or just buy a decent car after you are out of college. But the solara should take you from place to place safely and comfortabely. Howeve, I feel the suspension upgrade is a must for solaras. good luck

Supra swap is damn near impossible. Its a north south block where as the solara is an east west mount. It simply won't fit unless you destroy and rebuild the firewall and mounts.

What I've been told is that the only 2JZ-powered Solaras are tube frame drag cars with the engine still mounted north-south. Plus the North south V6 is much longer then the width of the east west.

I was givin this article in a post that I made asking about this...
