1mz-fe and/or 3mz-fe

I am looking to put one of these in my mk1 mr2 but i know very little about each engine since i have never dealt with either before.

Can you guys give me some links or info on each and what aftermarket parts are available?
ie: does th 3mz-fe have an S/C? or will it? cams? anything would be appreciated really.

thanks

Anything has 'cams' available if you're going to grind 'em, just call a good shop up and see what they can do, they'll likely either need some pretty good measurements of the base circle and so on or to actually have them shipped to them. this aside, an S/C I've heard is in the works for the 3MZ but I'm not 100%.

It's very doubtful that there will be a s/c for the 3mz. I think because the 1mz s/c didn't sell that well and TRD USA is shutting it's doors from what I hear.

doesn't SCION use TRD parts?

also, from the research im doing i would have to say your right about the S/C. the 3mz rods aren't nearly as beefy as 1mz rods so TRD/Toyota probly won't wanna make something that might could possibly, and most likely, hurt their weaker bottom ends. its a shame Toyota is more about gaining market share than making performance oriented cars. oh well, my camry has almost 200k on it so i can't bitch too much.

TRD options is what makes Scion "Scion". I find it highly doubtful they'll close their doors to the U.S. market. Furthermore, doesn't the 1MZ share the same rods as the 3MZ? I thought it was largely the same with a different crank and slightly different heads.

Do some searching on a 3vz s/c, IIRC there was talk of one not all too long ago.

Um... from what I understand... the major difference between the 2 engines is that the 1mz is 3.0L while the 3mz is 3.3L. The 1mz is 197HP. The 3mz is 225.

I'm seeing no huge external difference on the two. Perhaps a slightly thinner rod, I wouldn't really worry about it though, the bolts seem to be the same, so does everything else. I'd only be concerned if you have piston slap, which I'd be more concerned about for other reasons.

If you're really that concerned, just throw some 1MZ rods in, they seem to be the same dimensions visually.

erm no... it's 3vz rods | 22re eagle rods | 1mz rods.
the 1mz and 3mz rods are the same, the only diff is the 3mz uses 91.9mm pistons. I would know because i have seen the bottom end of the 3mz as it's going in my mr2

ignore the engine cover and the dual tb, thats off an avalon to remove the drive by wire
