awd vs mr

ok so the deal is my friend has a 99 audi a4. and he raced me. i have a 91 mr2 turbo. i was under the assumtion that his awd drive car would have killed me of the line, but always lead of by 2 car lenghts by the time i hit second gear. any suggestion for his audi for a better launch.
of the line he launches around 5 to 6 thousand.

True dat

Some Yokohamas and he'll stick to the ground. AVS Sport are good overall tires.

Stiffer rear springs will help also. Keep the car from sagging too much.

In all reality, he should take you off the line. But the weight over the engine must be helping. What's the power difference and weight difference in the cars?

how light are these 'lightweight' 18x8"'s?

I don't know if I've ever seen any 18"'s under 20lbs.

Ditch the BOV and you will really kick his ass . And iridium tips can brake under high boost .. you are running stock boost now... so it doesn't really matter.... but if you ever up the boost you might wanna think about that.

I've seen 18's as light as 16lbs before. They make some crazy rims.

If the Audi has AWD, stickier tires won't help. Unless it's the B.S. AWD where all the power is to the front then goes to the back as needed.

If it's true AWD, the traction is incredible. But the extra parts causes much more drivetrain HP loss than FWD or RWD.

That Audi just has a sluggish start. It's needs a healthy serving of Horse Power, that's all.
