Dragging a Twin Turbo Camry?

http://www.turboneticsinc.com/racing...n_dragster.htm

There are some pictures and an interview with Arslanian.

Ara Arslanian first turned heads with the import drag Solara (though powered by a 2jz), and now he's making necks whip across the strip with this dragster powered by a twin turbo Camry engine. Is it the 1MZ? I don't know. If anyone else has more info, please provide.

Looks like another 2JZGTE, that's an inline 6 not a V6 like the 1MZ.

I'm really not sure of the engine. I just found the story here titled: "3.0L Toyota-Powered Rail Makes 1,600hp / Fun with mom’s Camry. Actually, just the engine."

http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/news/ra...0hp-112442.php

"While a still a bit more than a stone’s throw from the numbers punched out by Hemi-headed Top Fuelers, Ara Arslanian’s Bullish Motorsports railjob is aiming for territory occupied by today’s nostalgia fuelers, and while the chassis’ basic design is similar in conception to Don Garlits’ decades-old template for a rear-engined dragster, Arlsanian’s car has one important difference: it’s powered by a twin-turbo Camry motor. Bullish was the first import team in the 6-second range, and with this machine, they’re aiming into the 5s. Any bets on how close small-displacement dragsters with electronic engine management can get to the purely mechanical machines of traditional pro-class racing before the NHRA starts revising rules?"

Yeah it's defintely not a Camry motor. 3.0 Straight six is most likely a 2JZ motor.

yea cam2xrunner is right, cuz u can count the six spark plug locations and if that's in my car (cuz i have the 3.0L) then i'm very excited...but i don't, i have the 1MZFE

maybe they meant the Lexus IS300, since it is powered by the 2JZGE. Not every source on the internet has the correct information...

someone on here, i believe, is working on a twin-turbo setup for the 1MZFE (haha 1MZFTTE!!!) and i believe a twin-turbo setup is better for 6cyl. (ie why the R34 and Supra were TT on they're I6's)

now back on topic, either way it's Toyota powered...

First 4 banger in the 6's????

Don't get me wrong guys, I have a lot of respect for what Ara and the guys over at Bullish Racing are doing, being a pioneer is not easy. In fact, I can't wait to see the sport compact equivelent to Top Alcohol Dragster (TAD) or even TF be the featured class at the Import events...

but there are a few guys that have a bit of a headstart on the learning curve over the guys at Bullish. I've seen another 4 cylinder dragster from San Marcos run several 6.70's and one 6.60 at well over 210mph in person. Another 4 cylinder from Hawaii ran a 6.99 2 times back in 2000 I think it was.

Both cars are air-cooled VW's opposed 4 cylinders on alcohol through Motec EFI and a 2-speed power glide transmission. Google Kris Lauffer and VW Paradise for more info

There is another guy who at BRE that is trying to take the next... um... LEAP to nitromethane. Same opposed WV 4 cylinder configuaration, he builds his own billet heads, block, cylinders. If he ever gets that thing to hold together past the 60ft cone it's gunna be a rocket!

I have no doubt that other teams will soon leapfrog past the VW guys, but it sure would be nice to see a match race for now.
