Canada Greetings from the Big Island

Vancouver Island that is.

Didiki here checking in.

Have just put down my deposit on a 2006 Toyota Yaris LE 5 door hatchback. 5 speed manual. These litle guys should be driven manually to get a feel for the car and the road. Automatic is just too boring. Copper Orange Mica colour.

Have been on the smart car forum since April 2004, and love the smart car since we saw them all over Europe. However, living out in the toolies we need something a big bigger with more space for tootling around the Cowichan Valley. 90% of our driving will be on Vancouver Island, and we probably won't be putting more than 7-8000 kms per year on the car. The smart is ideal as an urban commuter car, and if we lived in Victoria or Vancouver I would not hestitate in buying one.

We looked at the Chevrolet Aveo/Pontiac Wave clones, Kia Rio 5, Hyundai and Suzuki.
Really liked the Mazda3 sport, but it was a bit out of our price range. We opted for the Yaris because of the Toyota name and reliability, and higher resale value.

Am a Retired Consulting Forest Technologist after a 42 year career in a wonderful profession which is sadly going downhill fast in this province. My other vehicle is a 1992 Ford Ranger 4X4 truck for bush work, hauling the canoe, fishing and camping.

My personal info is all found on my member description.

Looking forward to getting the Yaris sometime in November and connecting with other local Yaris owners. Seeing as how my last name is Yates, the Yaris will fit in nicely.

Hello fellow Canuck!

Keep us updated when you pickup your sweet Yaris! We would definitely like to hear some owner's feedback on the car.
