Just thought I would utilise this introduction forum before jumping into the technical discussions
My first Toyota (also my first car), was a 1974 LT Celica, with a 13T 1.8L naturally aspirated petrol motor in it. The body was full of bog and the suspension was shot (even more so by the time I was through with it), I popped a few diffs and spent many hours trying to sort our a wonderous variety of minor dramas with it. None the less it was an AWESOME car, great fun to drive and enjoyable to work on. I fell in love with Toyota's back then and have only bought Toyota since.
I live in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia - what a lot of people consider "real" 4wd country. Myself, and the majority of my relatives, drive 4WD's - and of course the preference is Toyota. My personal baby is a metallic red, single cab, 3.0L TD 2004 Hilux which I purchased new in March 2005. A slight run in with the law has seen my licence disappear for 12mths, and I have decided to make the best of this bad situation and put the time to good use to modify my vehicle.
To start with I'm hoping to end up with nice new wheels, 35" tyres, a suspension upgrade (4" lift probably), and a whole heap of minor modifications to help make this vehicle the best 4WD it can be.
I have signed up to this forum with the hope of both gaining some advice from people who have conducted similar modifications in the past and hopefully I will be able to pass on some of my own knowledge and experience.
Look forward to chatting with you all
