Hello Everyone from San Jose, CA
I've owned my '89 Toyota Pickup V6 (4WD) for about 2 years now. It has over 280k on it. The previous owner was a Toyota tech at the Palo Alto Toyota dealer, and rebuilt the engine while he was there about 40,000 miles ago.
I love the truck. It's nice enough to take care of, but not so nice that you can't use it the way a pickup ought to be used. It's got all the bells and whistles, including a sunroof which I think is pretty cool since they don't even offer that anymore.
Anyway, I've never spent much time on this sight since the truck has been so reliable for me. I change the oil, and lube it, and gave it a tune up about 6 months ago. Oh, and I had to replace a 1/2-shaft a couple months ago too. That was fun!
Lately, however, I've been driving it a lot and when it's cold, it has major flat spots in the acceleration. It always starts strong, but just doesn't accelerate smoothly untill it warms up. I suspect something like an O2 sensor, or thermo-time switch (I'm assuming it has such a thing - or similar). Anyone been through this?
Maybe this isn't the right forum for this, so I apologize if that's the case. Thanks for any help you all can provide.
