Hey all, I just joined up to your forum, after reading a post or two it looks like the right place for me to be.
I just purchased a 1987 Toyota Pick up, short bed, single cab 4X4. I have been looking for a little truck for a while to replace my last project (1985 VW Golf Diesel). My goal is to own a ride that I can get in and out of, not fall in and out of like the little VW and not cost me a fortune in fuel.
This little truck has a pretty good body, looks like the bed, doors, fenders have been replaced and the truck painted fire engine red. It has 308000 miles on it and I have no idea if the engine has been rebuilt or not. I can say that the drive home was about 25 miles and there was no oil cloud and it was very peppie. It also has a body lift of about 3-4 inches.
I am going to remove the bed so I can have a good look at the frame, and the interior has to come out for a good cleaning. It also has BIG BIG wheels and tires which I am going to trade for smaller wheels and tires. I noticed that after I parked it in the garage bay there was a small amount of antifreeze on the floor right under the crank pully, I hope it's the water pump.
I will have a million questions for you experts since I have never owned a Toyota Pick up before so please be patient with me
