engine transplant
Hello everyone, I am looking for some advice. One year ago I bought a Maserati Spyder here in Thailand. Due to the spares problem etc, the previous owner had fitted a Lexus V8.
The car would barely run one week at a time without something breaking down, usually electrical problems and nothing to do with the engine. I did however change the starter motor, water pump and asociated bearings. Tired of problems so I am now having the car completely rebuilt, the guy doing the job tells me the engine is too big and heavy and a 1JZ or 2JZ straight six would be better. I need advice. I am rather confused as the engine was the most reliable part of the package, now I am told to change it, arrgghh. Anyone know the weight of the six? The eight is 470 lbs. Thanks, Ian
