back to a camry again...I think
Hi guys. Gas companies suck.
I had a 2002 dcab 4X4 TRD S/C, split second, 33's... It was very fun and drank a lot of gas. I drive 60 miles round trip each day stop and go traffic. Gas hit about 2.50 and I had to feed the S/C 92. It was starting to be a bit much. So I traded that in on a 2005 camry 4 banger. Much better mpg but not nearly as fun. So then gas prices started to come back down and hunting season was coming near... I got the itch and got another 2005 dcab 4X4 six speed. Well what do you know....record profits at Exon and BP and it's killing me again.
Yes obviously I made a pretty rash purchase and I really didn't think I would see 3.05 for 92 at the pumps. But here we are, 3 bucks a gallon and I'm paying almost a car payment a month in fuel.
Waiting list at the dealer for the hybrid is 500 bucks and I'd be the 3rd in line. The way toyota package their cars though I bet even money that the sticker will come in right about 29K for the hybrid. The 4 banger SE I'm looking at would hit 24K. The only other car that interested me was the tdi jetta, but I'm really happy with the toys and I'm weary of the track record for vw. The vw guys will swear up and down on the tdi, but I've read too many posts and articles on the problems vw's have.
Of course the SE V6 is very sweet but would be as much as the hybrid and really not that much of an improvment mpg.
Any 07 owners out there have some real world mpg stats yet? I'd like to hear the diff from the V6 to V4. One other thing that the hybrid won't be good at is towing my quad. The trailer and quad come in at about 900 lbs. The V4 would do it, the V6 would reallly do it. Not too sure on the hybrid. The dealer kinda said they would not rec'd towing the quad with the hybrid.
