Question MR2 5sfe to 3sfe

Hello, I found conflicting info about being able to instal 3sfe in place of bad 5sfe in my MR2 91. I already got the 3sfe from japaneseengines and they insist that this engine will fit. My mechanic, on the other hand, thinks it will not fit. George
